To the OP, who lives in Calgary, why not do it up right and get a Smithbilt? If you're gonna buy in to the Stampede lunacy and fake it, you might as well fake it like a boss.
They're made right here in Calgary. When you go in to buy one, they'll take you out back and shape and trim the brim to your liking.
I know nothing about cowboy hats, so I can't comment on the quality of it versus any other hats you can buy in the area, but whenever I have a choice of buying Made in Canada, I always do... and if the rare opportunity to buy something made in your back yard presents itself, I'm all over it.
Check the place out if you have time... you can spend anywhere from $95 to $950.
Either way, it beats buying some cheap wicker crap with a Corona emblem glued to the top of it.
If that's all you want, I'm sure you can buy those at any 7-11 in town.
