1. Implying that I am advocating shutting down jails from what I posted is nothing short of a lie. There is a difference between taking too long to pay back a loan and killing someone.

2. Seizing assets is not a slap on the wrist, you take my car from me, and I am hooped. If need be, take part ownership of their house (assuming all of what I said can be done by the government in the eyes of the law). Charge interested and additional fees for the government effort it takes to seize the assets (and such seize more), but do not throw people in jail for ‘crimes’ such as these. The government gets what is owed, and the “crime” is paid.
