Stampede is Calgary; brash, ostentatious and as indifferent to your criticisms as it is to your origins. The whole festival is so contrived that it creates something real; community. Anyone can step off the plane, wear a hat, pick up a pair of boots and purchase a set of fake cow horns that attach to the hood of the family SUV by magnets. Bang. You’re a Calgarian.
