I've only actually tried it on my Apple TV. I changed the DNS name servers as per the instructions and haven't touched anything else. The tunlr service is only being used by the Apple TV and the rest of my internet-connected devices are unaffected.
If I ever require something like this on my laptop (also a MacBook), I've got a VPN connection I can turn on/off relatively easily.
