There is basically no passport control when you leave Canada. It is done when you check in for your flight. You can treat them both as Domestic, however you want to be sure that your visa is in order, to avoid delays when checking in.

You will check in for the YVR flight the same as domestic, your bags will be checked through to PEK.
You will then walk half a mile once you land in YVR to go from Domestic departure area into the international departure area. Between these two you will be required to show your boarding pass (which you should be provided in YYC assuming you are using the same carrier or alliance).

On this topic how long ago did you book your tickets? PEK to YYC is outrageously expensive this month, almost double the usual.
