Just to be clear that the Calgary Separate School Board is a public system. The right to separate publicly funded denominational schools was created at confederation and reinforced when Alberta became a province and in the Charter....Section 29.
I went through the Calgary Separate School system and although I don't agree with the Bishop's stance, there is obviously a majority of people who belong to that institution that do agree with the Bishop. It is their right to set up their own administrative rules and their right to be led spiritually and guided by the him and church doctrine.
They are also free to leave the church or the CSSD, stay and go to your own doctor/clinic to get the vaccine, or better yet write to or elect trustees that support the HPV vaccine as part of the vaccination program.
