Lets be honest, most people aren't watching porn to learn about the female body or with the future desire of potentially meeting a porn star one day and getting to know them as a person. They're doing so to provide pleasure for themselves. The actress is there to provide visual stimuli, but people don't care about them on an emotional/personal level. They're just someone to be looked at as sexual objects.

Now I don't have stats to prove any causation. But given this premise, wouldn't it be possible that a society that promotes masturbation and pornography might also foster a culture where women and men tend to be objectified. Certainly, you could look around and see potential examples of it. The sexified icons of pop culture come to mind. The recent thread in which CP members discuss the totals of partners they've slept with comes to mind. I think someone even posted an image of notches on a bed post. As I've said, I don't have hard facts... just a theory. Would be interesting to see the research though. Anyhow, it's been interesting. I have to drive down to Richmond so I'll check in later. Have a good day everyone.
I find the opposite to this idea.

Lets take countries known for their sexually liberated ideals, Denmark, Sweden, Holland, Germany, and a number of others.

There is nudity on TV, foul language, but a lot less violence than in US television. Sex education is taught early and holds no punches. Birth control is widely used, sex is not taboo but a natural healthy thing which people enjoy, or hey there is always your hands or sex toys.

These nations have healthy happy relationships with sex, where as in the US, there is a messed up view of it, the porno usage is high in the US, rape, teen pregnancy, are all serious issues.

Like Stephen fry called the Catholic church, I think applies to the US as a nation (not in all states), the US is to healthy sex as a obese person is to food.

Like keeps being said by psychologists and doctors, a healthy sex life is good for you, and yes even masturbation, unless its to horse porn
