Funny story...
When I had my first communion, I assumed that the bread and wine wasn't
literally the body and blood of Christ, but rather just a symbolic metaphor used in the ritual. I continued to believe this for years and didn't find out until I was a teenager that Catholics
really do believe that the Eucharist is the actual, honest-to-goodness real deal, not metaphorical symbolism.
If one of the central tenets of the Catholic Church is so ridiculous that even a gullible six year old kid can't accept it, your religion really is crazy.
