Yup, it's a common misconception when talking about network speeds..
A byte is equal to 8 bits.
100 Mbps (Mega
bits per second) so you'd need to divide it by 8 to have it equal MB/s (Megabytes per second).
As mentioned, a Gigabit link can sustain a theoretical maximum of 125 MB/s but you likely won't achieve it, there are all kinds of other factors, primarily hard disk write and read speed in most home solutions.
