Jankowski has no shortage of believers. What Nate Leaman, coach at Providence College, and Dubuque Fighting Saints Head Coach/General Manager Jim Montgomery have to say:

For starters, Nate Leaman, coach at Providence College, which just happens to be the lad’s school of choice.

“You’re talking about a guy who wasn’t even on Central Scouting’s radar eight months ago — and to go in the first round of the draft?” said Leaman. “If you were to talk to him and see how humble he is, none of that has gone to his head. He’s an extremely mature kid. He’s a great student. All these things, I think, factor into being a very good NHL player. And Mark has all the talent on the ice.”
After following Jankowski during the 2010-11 campaign, he went to watch him early last season at a tournament in Vermont.
“From the first period I saw him, I knew, ‘Wow, what a great step he’d taken,’ and that we wanted to have him as part of our program,” said Leaman. “There’s no doubt, in college, that he projects as a No. 1 centreman. He can do everything extremely well. He skates well. He handles the puck well. He sees the ice very well. But the biggest thing about him is he makes the players around him better.
“I obviously have a very biased opinion, but I see all the great characteristics in Mark. His character off the ice is outstanding. The work ethic is outstanding.”

“Mark is a tremendous young hockey talent,” Montgomery said. “He is going to be the first player in the USHL that was drafted in the first round that comes and plays in our league. Mark is going to be someone that takes the fans out of their seats when they watch him play next year.”
