Yeah, it is weird; I'm not even sure how you play high school hockey as a 19 year old. I guess they saw something and figured a 7th round pick was worth whatever he'll bring.
And I wasn't talking about those picks necessarily, just the notion that those leagues are unknown quantities or something. Players get drafted out of the BCHL (or AJHL) and USHS all the time.
