This is such a stupid argument. 2/3 of NHL teams passed over every player that went after #20. That doesn't mean they think poorly of all of these players, nor does it mean that they are all not as good as the 20 playes selected before them. The NHL is not a hive-mind that charts the progression of prospects in exactly the same fashion. NHL teams do not all employ the same draft philosophies in their evaluation of talent. Just because Jankowski was not picked until #21 does not mean that scouts were unimpressed by him. It has already been well documented why Jankowski was ranked in the second round, but this has a lot less to do with his hockey skills and mostly to do with the fact that he wasn't playing tier-1 juniour. Again, when you read the scouting reports, they are all very high on his vision, hockey IQ, and his puck-skills—these were NOT the reason for his lower ranking.
