If your a Cardinals fan, you have every right to be happy. You got a world series ring and even if there's nothing to show for the trade now, it's still a world series ring. Clearly someone with the potential of Rasmus at such a skilled position, something would have had to of happened for him to be on the trading block and the Jays did their homework on him and he's been nothing but great since coming here. No question a change of scenery was needed and maybe it took that to mature.
From a Cards perspective, getting Jackson was a big part in that run. Again, the Cardinals got a ring and they can always have that and had some contribution from that trade. If you're a Jays fan though, that means so little, for a team that is thinking long term. You found a way to find value for two relief pitchers, Corey Patterson and a pitching prospect for Colby Rasmus. It worked out well for the Cardinals and Jays, from the Jays side of things being able to get a CF with this much upside for what they traded for, is still a steal.
