Don’t be surprised if Craig Button (yes the ex-Flames GM) has an effect on who the Calgary Flames draft. Todd Button, the Flames’ Director of Scouting, is Craig Button’s brother. Back in 2009, Craig Button, controversially, had Tim Erixon ranked really high. Craig actually had Erixon in his top 10. Guess who the Flames drafted that year? Yep, Tim Erixon. In 2011, Crag Button had Bartschi ranked #11 on his list. When it came time for the Flames to make their selection, Bartschi was the highest ranked forward on Button’s list. Coincidence? I think there is something to it.

Looking at the 2012 Craig’s List, Teravainen, Matt Finn, and Mark Jankowski are ranked really high. I wouldn’t be surprised if Teravainen was gone before the Flames are on the clock but Finn and Jankowski? I would be very surprised if Finn and Jankowski were gone before the Flames make their selection. But I wouldn’t be surprised if one of those three became property of the Calgary Flames because of… well… the Button Effect
