The problem is that people confuse high risk/high reward with him having a strong chance of being an elite #1 centre or he's a complete bust who never plays in the AHL. He could just as easily be a 3rd/4th line guy. Just because a guy like Gaunce (for example) doesn't have the scouting report that says he can be an elite player doesn't mean it's not a possibility. Guys drafted with "only" good, but not great upside can and do develop into stars too.
