We have a 3 stage filter system running on a seperate tap. I forget the actual company name but they were one of the water companies who are at the home shows...it might even be Mountain Spring. Anyway, you can find a few different companies who sell them.
We've had the system for about 7 years now and have no complaints. It's a tap so the water never runs out, you don't have to wait for it to filter through like a Brita, and no bottles to toss around. The company has given us good service. One of the filters gets changed every 5 years and they track when it was last changed and called us up saying the filter was due for a swap.
I believe the unit cost something like $300 and the filter is $60 or there abouts. Seemed like a reasonable cost given the no muss no fuss approach. I'll duck my head under the cabinet and get the name and number for you if you want it.
