I chose projector and love it. However, I have no windows in my theater room, so it's easy. A high lumen projector will deal with some ambient lighting, but you will still have to deal with setting things up which is more difficult than a TV. The picture on projectors is pretty comparable, so the differentiating points would be size (projector), ambient light (LCD), setup (LCD), and price (projector)
