If that's a feature, I haven't seen it. I usually have about a spare gig on my phone, and when you're streaming high quality apple files that gets picked up quick. It does save them, and as far as I can tell the only way to get rid of them is to go into settings-->General-->Usage-->Music-->Delete. Insanity. It streams as it should on the Mac, but on iOS devices it just downloads.
