Well 15 years ago there was no other option if you had a place for rent. A week in the Herald classifieds cost $200 but the Internet changed all that. Craigslist and Kijiji produced more replies so I haven't used newspaper ads for 5 years. But I only advertise every couple of years when people leave.

I'm not sure why rentfaster has less flakey replies, but I have collected empirical evidence that it does. My reasoning was that if the the tenants on rentfaster are on average less flakey probably the landlords are too, but I can't prove that. I certainly wasn't saying all landlords using kijiji are flakey (I use it too), but that on average it's probably not as good as rentfaster. If I was a tenant looking I'd use rentfaster. I also think the search capabilities are better.
Obviously 15 years ago the paper was more important than it is now. I didn't have properties then, so I was only saying that I can't comment on it, that's all.
