Along with the link to organized crime, these are issues related to it being illegal and not the product itself. Same argument can be made for Ecstacy and a bunch of other drugs, as well.
If they're proven to be no more harmful than the multitude of legal drugs available, why not decriminalize and control? Bottle of tequila or whiskey, along with stuff like oxycontin, will mess most people up far more than a dose of E or a doobie. Difference is that typically you know the tequila was made to a specific standard.
