Nobody loves your car as much as you do. Unless you go to one of those high end places that will charge you a couple hundred bucks for a really nice detail, chances are you could do a better job (and not scratch up your paint). If you have a few hours to spare on a weekend, I recommend doing it yourself! It can be strangely rewarding...putting on some tunes, cracking open a beer, and doing all this stuff yourself on a nice day....it's a good time. Although I've found it's a bit tougher to do a wash in Calgary considering you're not allowed to use shampoos in the street.

I recommend reading up on this page http://www.autogeek.net/detailingtips.html for a bit of a how-to from some ultra-dedicated detailers. You dont necessarily need all the buffers etc, just a few of the basics will do.
