Have gone to the Bay area a few times...a couple add ons...

-Go over to Sausalito...very artsy feeling, and the weather is usually nicer than in SF itself...we took the 'regular' ferry as opposed to the tourist trips from Fisherman's Wharf. The ferry terminal itself is a really cool building...reminds me of the old great train stations in cities like NYC or Toronto... Or you can cycle over the Golden Gate Bridge from the Wharf to Sausalito...if you are on a bike at all it will be a fairly easy journey.

-I've been to both Oakland and SF for ball games, and actually enjoyed my game in Oakland a bit more...I'd say SF is like watching a Flames game in the club, while Oakland is like watching the same game in the bleeds...maybe not as nice, but the fans are more into it. You can get to the Coliseum by train without going into 'Oakland' itself...

-Do not fly into Oakland airport instead of SF...it is about the same travel time to downtown for both, and you do get to go over the Bay Bridge, but when we flew into it the Oakland Airport looked and smelt like a 1970's bus terminal.
