It's not the processed cheese itself, it's the combination of that minced fish/chicken that McDonald's uses. The whole texture of that is disturbing. The only reason, besides there being some other organs in it, to mince it like that is to make perfectly-shaped patties.
And we have a variety of grilled-cheese sandwiches growing up - real cheese and processed cheese. Just whatever was in the fridge. I don't really have a preference for grilled-cheese sandwich cheese though. They are both good. Unless you're talking about the "grilled-cheese-sized" processed slices. Those are too thick.
