I don't think Vegas is the way to go. Yes there are no other professional teams, but there are many many other substitutes competing for your dollars. Music, Magic, Fights, Theme parks, shopping. There are many things people go to Vegas to do, and watch hockey is not likely to be one of them.
Plus they have a rotary population. Not many people actually LIVE in Vegas and the ones that do are likely working long hours at a casino. People go to Vegas for 4 or 5 days and generaly have ways planned out of spending their money (usually involving losing it on purpose). And I don't by the snowbirds argument. Half of Calgary has places in Phoenix and it doesn't seem to be working for them.
