I would say it is more than that.
Would you cheer at the end of your friends ceremony (regardless of how special he/she is), knowing that another ceremony is taking place the second yours ends and that by yelling you are ruining the other people's ceremony?

To me this whole thing is just an example of people thinking that their own situation is special and therefore they don't have to follow the rules. It shows a complete lack of respect for any of the people whose families don't even get to hear their child's name when he is called because some other people thought their kid deserved special treatment.
