The cloud is not magical and not everything will suddenly be better with it. But to ignore it is foolhardy as there are many practical applications where is can be a boon.

Ideally for any storage solution, you will want onsite and offsite backup for quick data retrieval or restore in case of emergency. A detriment of cloud in that instance is speed of access to restore the backups for your data or entire infrastructure being dependent on your connection versus much faster local storage.
