So that is how i would divide the city. Basically, west edmonton, most of the south, and the "new" north are all places you wouldn't mind living. Older(ish) edmonton has kind of like a "beltline" or maybe a bowness/forest lawn sort of feel to it. There are some places in south edmonton you don't really want to find yourself. Mostly though, the city of edmonton was not built very well. It projected growth that did not happen. Areas close to downtown were built, but people all migrated out to the periphery. The area north of downtown is the worst, just north and up towards the east of edmonton. This is the best explanation I can give.
