Ottawa police are investigating after a suspicious package was delivered to the Conservative Party of Canada's headquarters in the capital.

Police would not confirm reports that the package contained a human foot, but authorities are on scene and appear to be treating the incident seriously, CTV's Ottawa Bureau Chief Robert Fife reported Tuesday afternoon.

Update:

In a short news release, Ottawa Police said they were called to 130 Albert St. around 11:20 a.m.

"Upon arrival, officers noted that the (box) package possibly had blood stains on it," the news release said.

"The Hazmat Unit and Emergency Operations Section were called and upon further inspection of the package it was determined that there was possibly a human foot in the box."
