If I had the cash, the time to train properly and was able to take 6 months off work, I would more then definitely consider trying to climb Everest, even given the risks. I am planning a 3 month trip into Asia next year and am planning to get to Nepal and make it to the base camp. My Aunt and her close friend did the base camp trek about 10 years ago and she told me even to get to the camp is very taxing (and she is an extraordinarily fit older women), in fact the altitude was too much for her friend and she had to go back with one of the guides.
