I remember a bunch of years ago I played in a flag league that allowed down field blocking and people were getting run over left right and center, it was awesome.
But the hardest skill for a line man is pass blocking, you have to really understand your reads in order to be good at it, and make decisions based on pressure packages.

We played in a tourney in Vegas a couple years ago. They have downfield blocking down there, but has to be hands only between the shoulders. Can't blind side anyone. I actually like the rule quite a bit. Don't want to see someone take any huge hits downfield with no pads or being blind sided with a shoulder when you're looking the other way. It opened up a little bit of a running game and we were quite effective with little bubble screen passes getting the linemen to jump out and block the linebackers.
