I think it completely depends on the host. If they have a good host who can hold their own with the regulars the show is generally good most of the way through I find. Whenever JT hosts the whole show is gold, they should just add him as a permanent cast member haha.

He is good, but the writing is key. If he was a regular cast member you would get tired of seeing the Liquor Barn, Dick in a Box guy, and Barry Gibb talk show every other week.
