How many hours has your friend spent getting to that point? My rough estimation is at least 80 hours, probably well over 100 (in a single character).
I'd rather Blizzard design for the people who can't spend that much time in a single week then for the outliers. Diablo 3 seems to have enough replayability for me to last a very long time (I just beat normal, starting on nightmare but my play time will be taking a nose dive - summer, need a break). As long as I stay away from the auction house, the game is awesome. Easily comparable to vanilla Diablo 2.
