Default Will a Gateway 2Wire2700 work as a wireless bridge in conjunction with a Optik V1000H

Just got Telus Optik tv (I like it). I used to have just telus internet and used the Gateway 2Wire modem-router (supplied by telus), which I still have.

The new Optik tv modem-router (black box with two antennas #V1000H) is on one floor and my tv with Sony bluray is on another floor and its impractical to hardwire the two together. My bluray does not have wireless capability. I would like to use a wireless bridge to connect the bluray player to and then wirelessly connect to the new telus modem-router.

Will these two work together? If yes, how do I go about setting the old modem-router up as a wireless bridge?

I warn you... I know absolutely nothing about this type of stuff.

P.S. Called called customer support at telus to ask this question and the guy didn't even know what a wireless bridge was..... sigh.
