I don't know why people are giving negative impressions towards the acting in Chronicle. Sure whoever played Matt (the cousin) was pretty bad, but I thought the other two (Steven and Andrew) were pretty damn good and played their roles convincingly. That goes double for Dane DeHaan who played Andrew.

It's hard to compare the two since The Avengers is a 200 million dollar blockbuster, while Chronicle only cost 12. One thing I must say about Chronicle is that is far surpassed the expectations I had going in. I only ending up seeing it because of the reviews and since I had a couple free cereal passes I needed to use.

As for the Avengers the only reason I hesitate to give it full marks is because we know the sequel should be better (like with almost every comic book movie franchise). It suffered a tad with not introducing a real menace, and having the random alien threat storyline has been done to death before. With Thanos being featured in the sequel I expect a better movie overall.
