Core Attributes

Stats are now incorporated into the inventory/paper doll display.
The core attributes changed once again in January of 2012. This list is current as of the Diablo 3 Beta Patch 12, February 2012.

Strength
Strength governs how much Armor a character has and increases Barbarian's damage dealt.
Each point of Strength gives:
+x to Armor.
+x to Barbarian's damage.

Dexterity
Dexterity governs the chance that a character will Dodge an attack and increases Demon Hunter's and Monk's damage dealt.
Each point of Dexterity gives:
+x% to Dodge chance.
+x to Demon Hunter's damage.
+x to Monk's damage.

Intelligence
Intelligence governs the amount of Life a character gains from Health Globes and increases Wizard's and Witch Doctor's damage dealt.
Each point of Intellect gives:
+0.1 per point to Resistances.
+x to Witch Doctor's damage.
+x to Wizard's damage.

Vitality
Vitality governs the amount of Life a character has.
Each point of Vitality gives:
+x to Life.
If you mouse over these on your inventory screen the tool tip gives you the actual numbers so you can compare different weapons/armor.
