I'm going to have to disagree with this particular point. I don't see the point of maintaining tradition only for the sake of tradition. I think that just because we've always done something is not a good enough reason to continue doing it.
I don't see the need to continue representing multi-generational Brits either. We have a large number of multi-generational immigrants from a wealth of different countries.
Lastly, I think our politics are the defining feature that keep us from being identified as the 51st state. We're traditionally much more left-leaning on political issues and we tend to have less religion mixed in with our politics.
