Just to play the Devil's Advocate for a moment here, but on the topic of that being sexual abuse:
Think about it from the standpoint of that kid growing up. Couldnt this in a way just be an almost forced or nurtured Oedipal complex? How is this kid going to have a normal sexual realtionship as an adult without thinking about mom every time he sees breasts?
As for the whole thing, I think its a terrible idea. Toss away all the weird sexual crap and the fact that 99% of parents instinctually dont do this and the likelihood that this infinitesimally tiny group of oddball parents happen to be the only ones doing it 'right' but my opinion is that kids need to be less attached to their parents.
I'm not going to go on a tangent about 'back in the day' because, quite honestly, I'm not old enough to do it and its a load of crap anyways. But in my current experience dealing with kids they could use more independance and responsibility in order to become independant adults.
Hell, just using my own friends and age group for example I think we're probably 5-7 years behind where the previous generation was at the same age, the next generation coming up is going to be hopelessly lost when mommy is gone, unavailable or just finally tired of dealing with whatever their kids' problems are.
In short, in my opinion we as a society are already too involved and too attached, taking it to this extreme is detrimental to the children's long-term well being as well as society's long-term well being.
And thats an opinion, not a judgement, but if you're going to take your parenting style, slap it on a magazine cover and call it the best way then I believe you are opening yourselves up to criticism and debate in the public eye. Where goes the magazine article the dissenting opinion should be entitled to follow.
