I try to mind my own business; and I hope for the same from others when it comes to how I parent my own kids. In fact, when people stick their noses into our business, that's generally one of those times that I let out the "other guy."
I don't think judging a parenting style in the context of a discussion forum is that abhorrent. We all judge as it helps us to determine how we would like to parent (or do anything, for that matter). I like how they're doing that, so I'm going to try it. I don't like how they're doing that, so I'm not going to do that.

I definitely think you should mind your own business when it comes to your friends. Parenting is a struggle and we're all just doing the best we can, for the most part. Each kid is different and requires a slightly (or drastically) different style of parenting. I'm a pretty judgmental person in general, but I've really been able to shut that off when it comes to how my friends raise their kids and I just trust their judgement.

On a discussion forum, however, I think it's fair to judge a topical issue like this. We have a magazine cover with a pretty shocking (to some) photo and topic. To say we shouldn't discuss it is kind of silly IMO.

Okay, so you're secure in how you want to parent. Good for you. Maybe there are people that are not so sure of what is right and enjoy hearing the debate and opinions on both sides. I agree with you there is a bit of high and mighty attitude here...
