Technically it should be Charles, but between the Queen lasting so long, and they way they feel about Charles since the whole Diana thing, there has been talk about making William the next King or at least face of the family.

Still better than his father. There has been talk that Canada might use that time (after the death of the Queen but before the inauguration of the next monarch) to drop the monarchy, but it's been widely disagreed with, even in among circles that don't like the monarchy. I don't see it happening either. At this point it's less about the actually monarchy, but the benefits or history in belonging to the commonwealth.
Did you know that there are many countries in the world without a Canadian embassy? And in situations like that you are to travel to a British embassy and they will take care of you. There are times when being part of a large close family does benefit us in real ways.
I predict, there will be an English monarch on our bills for a while.
