Default Brodeur continues to set new standards

Martin has broken the total wins record previously shared by himself at 44 wins. With the win over Tampa today Martin has reached new heights………..

50 wins

Martin who briefly spoke to the Oil media after the game only downplayed the achievement by stating a win is a team thing, and there is a lot left to do this year. When asked if he was concerned about the amount of minutes played this season. Martin replied “ I hate to sit. When Rink offered me the lucrative contract I knew the expectations, I expected to see a lot of ice. We still have five games to play before the play-offs. I expect to be in the net for at least four of them if not all five. I am a goalie because I like to play.

It was also a big day for the Oil organization today. After only accumulating sixty-six points in the 2002 – 2003 campaign. A vision was set to build a young team for the future, draft picks were sought after and young talent was assembled and headed to Mulletville. Last year the Oil fell short of the 1st goal of a conference title…… by only one point. And then fell short of the ultimate goal, the Stanley cup ….. by only one game.

Oil clinch first ever Conference Title,……and a third Division Title.

2002- 2003 – 66 points (14th in the Howe Conference, 6th in the Martin Division)

2003 – 2004 – 98 points (4th in the Howe Conference, Division Title)

2004 – 2005 – 119 points (2nd in the Howe Conference, Division Title)

2005 – 2006 – 116+ points (Conference Title, Division Title)
