As long as he sells off his share of the Sharks, it shouldn't be an issue at all.
When the Gund brothers were granted the expansion franchise in San Jose, they had to sell off the North Stars, and Norm Green (who was one of the Flames owners at the time) was part of the committee tasked with finding a suitable owner in Minnesota. After reviewing all the information, he decided to sell his share of the Flames and buy the team himself.
Other owners over the years have gone from owning all or part of one team to owning all or part of another (Craig Leipold, who now owns the Wild, used to own the Predators).
