A little off topic, but relevant. The MLA Pay Committee report came in.

http://calgary.openfile.ca/blog/cura...-raise-premier (I also know that it's openfile, but it's the first article I've seen to talk about the suggested pay structure)

Quote:
MLA base pay: $134,000 (including attendance at committee meetings), indexed to Alberta Consumer Price Index

But a $200 per meeting stipend would be paid to the chair of any assembly or committee
The $134,000 value comes from taxable $75,000 salary plus a $37,5000 tax-free allowance
Chairs and deputy chairs of committees would receive additional compensation
Cabinet ministers, speaker of the house and leader of the opposition: $201,000
Premier: Base pay of $134,000 plus additional, immediate addition of $134,000 for a total of $268,000
An increase "commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the role"
In one year, that should rise to $301,500
In two years that should rise to $335,000 to fall in line with "Alberta's highest paid public servants"
