She used a work email to disclose her password to her personal email. Her employer owns all content in her employee email so she essentially disclosed her password and email to her employer. So upon finding that information looking into her personal email is fine by me. They didn't hack in. They found something in plain site.

The ridiculous thing is this person got there job back after clearly violating HR policies. So much so that other people made complaints about here behaviour with an on Duty officer.

That's not how it works.
If I leave a key to my house at the police station, they still need a warrant to come search my house.
This would be the same type of situation.

Just because they can now gain access to her personal email, doesn't mean they are allowed to.
