Default Excel Help 2.0 - Chart questions

Hi Guys, another excel brain teaser...

I have a worksheet with client information, from which I create pivot tables etc.

What I want to do now is to create a bubble chart BUT have ~5 categories on both the X and Y axis and the size of bubble represent quantitative data.

However, it seems that Bubble Charts are designed to only have numerical values on the X and Y axis...any ideas on how to change this?

My current thought is to recode my categories with numbers in the source worksheet (e.g. Nanotechnology=1, Genomics=2 etc)...but then I have to relabel the chart for it to make sense for a lay reader.
