This is the second Slate article on Community I've read this week that was way off base. The reason everyone bags on Britta is to make the audience sympathize and like her, Dan Harmon talks a lot about it on the DVD commentary.

Britta's easily my favorite character on the show, she always get's the biggest laughs from me. She's the perfect embodiment of the hipster doofus.
