Pylon, the most important shortcut you can use with 2 mionitors is the windows key + your left and right arrows. It allows you to easily snap to half monitor sized windows, since it will not only snap to the external sides but your internal sides as well. If you try to snap to the center with the mouse, it wont work.

I could never get used to split screens myself except for certain tasks (copying files from one explorer window to another, for instance). Just felt claustrophobic to me.
Mostly my windows are maximized, and I move windows from one screen to another. As such, I use Windows key-up arrow to maximize, and Windows Key-shift-left/right arrow to quickly move windows from one screen to another.
