And yes... I consider Lidstrom to be the only legitimate SUPERstar defenseman currently playing in the NHL. There are a lot of all star d-men playing but no other superstars.

I think Chara matches Lidstrom over the past 5 years but yes Lidstrom has had the better career.
If that is your criteria for a Superstar then fair enough but considering how you limit it do much I don't think it does much for your original argument as I would think that star player would have a very limited criteria as well.
