That's unfortunate. So many other metros/subways that I have ridden on have all sorts of amenities in or near the stations and they become a hub of activity. Not to mention, leasing the restored building to a business could potentially be an additional revenue stream, increase activity near the station, reduce crime, etc.
I do recall there used to be little convenience kiosks within some LRT stations years ago, which was handy for a quick newspaper or tickets.
