Addiction doesn't have to be the end of the line. People can quit (i'm an ex-smoker myself, and making smoking "uncool" was a motivating factor for quitting).

(the eata bigmeal thing is funny though, and it's a reasonable point. Maybe we should use the same tactics to fight obesity. It's a huge problem just like smoking).
