My wife is a huge Cage fan and she wanted me to turn it off half way through. Pretty harsh commentary from someone who is an award winning playwrite and will watch anything (she rented it, so I MADE he watch the whole thing).

I guess it is a love it or hate it type of movie. It is refreshing to see a movie that is original, which this was. I thought Cage was very convincing in it. I guess his character was not particularly likeable, but I ended up hoping for him, and empathizing with him. I don't think a character has to be fully likeable to make a good movie. The movie is a very interesting character study, and had some very well placed humour in it. It was quite well written.
It isn't a typical Hollywood feel good movie, that is for sure. But if you can appreciate something that goes outside of the typical hollywood formula, this is a very good movie.
